AC Replacement Cost in Jacksonville, FL
Prices reviewed October 2026
Two Jacksonville HVAC companies publish their prices. Florida Air Flow Heating & Air, on Clydo Road, prices a 3-ton system for a 1,400 to 1,800 sq ft home at $4,800 to $7,500 and says most Jacksonville homeowners pay $4,500 to $9,000 for a complete system. Handy Dan Heating & Air lists its own 3-ton complete-system starting prices at $6,995 single-stage and $8,995 two-stage. Together they put a 3-ton replacement at roughly $4,800 to $9,000. Variable-speed equipment is a different tier: Handy Dan starts its 3-ton inverter systems at $16,995.
That range is for a 3-ton system with single-stage or two-stage equipment. Variable-speed systems cost far more; see the table below.

Common questions
Why is the Jacksonville range lower than other Florida cities?
Both Jacksonville sources publish prices for the system itself with a basic installation. Florida Air Flow's 3-ton figure, $4,800 to $7,500, sits below the Florida-wide $9,000 to $12,000 HVAC.com gives for a 3-ton condenser and air handler. Duct, electrical, or permit add-ons can close the gap.
Is variable-speed worth it?
It costs much more. Handy Dan's 3-ton variable-speed system starts at $16,995 against $6,995 single-stage. Ask each contractor to explain what the extra cost buys for your home before you decide.
Does JEA offer an AC rebate?
JEA lists heating and cooling rebates on its website. We couldn't confirm the current amounts, so check JEA's rebate page before you count on one.
