AC permits in Miami
- Inside City of Miami limits, AC change-outs are on the city's Easy Permit list, which licensed contractors file online through iBuild. Questions: 305-416-1100.
- Miami-Dade has many separate cities, including Hialeah, Miami Beach, and Coral Gables, and each issues its own permits. Unincorporated areas permit through Miami-Dade County.
- Airo says it pulls the permit and handles the inspection as part of the job, which is typical.

Common questions
Does salt air really change the price?
Airo Service says coastal Miami homes pay 10 to 20% more for equipment rated to resist salt-air corrosion. Ask whether a quote's condenser has a coastal coating or corrosion-resistant coil.
Who pulls the AC permit in Miami?
The contractor, almost always. In the City of Miami, licensed contractors file AC change-outs as Easy Permits through iBuild. Other Miami-Dade cities have their own building departments.
Is a mini-split cheaper than central AC?
For one room or an addition, yes: Airo prices a single zone at $3,500 to $6,500. For a whole home, multi-zone systems at $7,000 to $15,000 can cost as much as central air.
