Prices reviewed November 2026

Full AC replacement, system size not stated
$6,500 – $12,000

The prices we found come from companies based outside Jupiter. A Port St. Lucie company's Jupiter page says a full AC replacement for a typical Jupiter home runs $6,500 to $12,000, depending on system size and efficiency tier. Two other pages bracket it: a Stuart company's Jupiter page (updated March 2026) says a new system typically costs $3,500 to over $10,000, and a Boynton Beach company's Palm Beach County guide (updated April 2026) says about $4,500 to $15,000 or more.

None of the three says what size system it means, and the Port St. Lucie page carries no date. Treat the range as a budget, then ask for a quote that lists tonnage and SEER2.

Where these prices come from: a Port St. Lucie company, a Stuart company, and a Boynton Beach company, with tiers from a Greenacres company's county guide. See all 28 sources for this page.

AC permits in Jupiter

  • The Building Department is at 210 Military Trail (561-741-2286). Permits go through the town's Jupiter Community Development System portal, and the town's checklist says to create an AC replacement as permit type Air Conditioning, work class Change Out.
  • The town's residential AC checklist asks for the A/C Replacement Form (revised January 2025), an AHRI certificate, and an equipment location plan, uploaded as PDFs. A residential Manual J is needed only if the system is being resized.
  • The town's fee schedule sets the permit fee at 2% of the value of the work, with a $75 minimum and a $75 inspection fee that covers re-inspection; the town's fees page says state surcharges apply. The last date printed on the schedule is January 2018, so ask the department for today's figure.
  • We found no town statement on Florida's $7,500 permit exemption, so ask the Building Department before assuming a small job skips a permit.
  • A recorded Notice of Commencement is required for HVAC repair or replacement valued above $14,999.99 (town FAQ), in line with s. 713.135. Homes outside town limits permit through Palm Beach County's Building Division, 2300 N. Jog Rd. (561-233-5100).

Rebates and help paying in Jupiter

  • The utility's tariff lists Jupiter among the communities FPL serves. FPL's AC rebate page offers an instant $200 credit on the invoice when an FPL-approved Participating Independent Contractor installs a new system with both indoor and outdoor units rated 15.2 SEER2 or higher.
  • Palm Beach County's LIHEAP HVAC replacement flyer describes up to $15,000 for central HVAC replacement for county homeowners living in the home with a documented crisis, below 60% of state median income or 150% of the federal poverty level. The flyer gives no dates; a June 2025 WLRN report shows the program has run in application windows, so call 833-273-9455 to ask whether one is open.
  • The town's assistance programs page lists no AC or home-repair program of its own; it says Neighborhood Services can help with home repair through referrals (561-741-2474).
  • We couldn't confirm whether PACE financing is available in Jupiter; the county PACE page doesn't name the town and tells owners to check with their city.
  • The federal tax credit for heat pumps and central AC doesn't cover equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025, according to the IRS.

Rebates and assistance programs open, close, and change as funding allows. Confirm current status with the program before you plan around it. Details reviewed November 2026.

Choosing an AC replacement company in Jupiter

Jupiter's checklist gives an AC replacement its own work class and its own form, which gives you a list for comparing quotes.

Thinking of pulling the permit yourself? The town's owner-builder affidavit says you must perform or supervise the work yourself, and that selling or leasing the home within a year raises a presumption the work was done to sell or lease it.

Common questions

How much does AC replacement cost in Jupiter?

A Port St. Lucie company's Jupiter page puts a full replacement for a typical home at $6,500 to $12,000, depending on size and efficiency. A Stuart company's Jupiter page says $3,500 to over $10,000, and a Palm Beach County guide from a Greenacres company lists central systems from $5,500 at 14 to 15 SEER2 to $11,000 at 16 to 18 SEER2, with higher tiers above that.

What does a Jupiter AC permit cost?

The town's fee schedule sets the permit fee at 2% of the value of the work, with a $75 minimum, plus a $75 inspection fee and state surcharges. The schedule was last revised in 2018, so confirm the current amount with the Building Department.

Does an AC replacement in Jupiter need a Notice of Commencement?

Does Palm Beach County help low-income homeowners replace an AC?

A county flyer describes a LIHEAP program paying up to $15,000 to replace central HVAC for homeowners below 60% of state median income or 150% of the federal poverty level, with a documented crisis such as an inoperable unit, a unit 10 or more years old with high energy bills, or a physician-documented health need. The flyer gives no dates, and past rounds have run in windows, so call 833-273-9455 to ask whether one is open.
